FP&A Lead – Myndstream

We are Myndstream, you might not know us yet, but you will soon. We are a subsidiary of the largest independent music for media company, Cutting Edge Group, you’ll have heard our soundtracks on epic TV shows like Stranger Things and iconic movies like Whiplash. Building on over 20 years of experience and success in influencing how people feel through music in TV, film and gaming, we have launched our latest venture, Myndstream. We are on a mission to release the power of music to improve the health and wellbeing of the listener, whether that be to improve mood, boost productivity, or promote relaxation. We work with world-leading musicians, scientists, and wellness practitioners to understand how music affects how we feel. This allows us to create health and wellbeing music that has the maximum impact on the listener. Our work has transformed many spaces globally, from spas through our music streaming subscription to our bespoke projects in hotels, schools and hospitals. The Role

We are seeking a highly analytical and results-driven FP&A Lead (Manager/Director level) to join our small, mission-driven team. This strategic role will be instrumental in driving our financial performance and supporting our expansion plans as we establish a new market category. Reporting directly to the CEO & COO, you will be responsible for financial controls, reporting, managing day-to-day accounting operations and providing critical insights as a partner to the leadership team.

 

Responsibilities of the FP&A Lead

  • Financial Leadership: Develop and execute comprehensive financial strategies aligned with company goals co-ordinated effectively with wider group finance stakeholders.
  • Financial Reporting and Compliance: Oversee accurate and timely financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Conduct scenario planning and risk analysis to identify potential financial risks and opportunities.
  • Strategic Planning: Provide financial insights to inform business decisions, growth strategies, budgets & long term planning.
  • Process Improvement: Implement innovative financial processes, tools & systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness e.g. financial planning software and other systems to optimize financial planning and analysis
  • Finance operations: Reliably manage financial administration (cost tracking, reconciliations, VAT, payroll etc.) and ad hoc requirements on tax, R&D credits and commercial supporting activities.
  • Stakeholder Management: Present complex financial information to leadership and operational teams, ensuring clear understanding and alignment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • 2-4 years of post-qualification experience in industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • Expertise in financial modeling and FP&A.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks and their implementation.
  • Experience with R&D tax credits process.
  • Commercial acumen and ability to partner with business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with financial planning software.
  • Start-up experience.
  • Knowledge of exit/IPO strategies.

  • Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Effectiveness of financial planning and accuracy of forecasting.
  • Quality of strategic financial insights provided to stakeholders.

A bit more about the nuts & bolts

  • This is a full-time position based in our White City, London office
  • We operate a hybrid working model with a 3:2 (office:home) day split per week
