Music's Healing Power
Our founder, Freddie Moross, recently caught up with Professor Adam Ockelford: composer, researcher, teacher, and a true pioneer in the psychology of music.
From working with extraordinary savant musicians like Derek Paravicini to supporting children with learning difficulties, Adam shows how music can open doors like nothing else can. We’re privileged to collaborate with incredible partners like Professor Ockelford, who help drive our research and deepen our understanding of music’s impact across a wide spectrum of use cases. “We’re just at the beginning of understanding music’s power in care.”
Music for Neurodiversity is a film produced by Myndstream and BBC Storyworks Commercial Productions. The film explores the impact of music on wellbeing within education, particularly with neurodivergent children, such as children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Myndstream sought to better understand how its music could help in educational environments. Playlists were carefully curated to cater to varying musical requirements and tested across four distinct parts of the children’s day: Individual focus, Quiet time, Sleep time, Play time, Observational data gathering. The film won the Gold Award for Best Native Advertising Program B2C.
The film features Professor Adam Ockleford, a music psychologist from London’s University of Roehampton, alongside Freddie Moross, Founder of Myndstream.
